In 2010 I decided to do a "one photo a day" project - sharing a single photo per day for an entire year. There are lots of different ways to accomplish this with various different rules or guidelines. I found a blog entry by Jason Webber to be particularly helpful in setting out initial guidelines for having a successful "photo a day" project - "Tips for a ‘One photo a day’ project".
The idea is simple and fun. I select the theme for my project to be "our family life", mostly taken with a point-and-shoot camera.

In practice, even though I am only 12 days into the 365 days, this project has proven a lot more difficult than I thought. What I am quickly realizing is that my daily family life is not that different from one day to the next. I am away from the house for a large part of the day, and when I am home it is often dark outside - restricting me to indoor shots. Net result is that taking interesting snap-shots has been more difficult than I expected.
In order to keep the photos interesting, I have started to experiment with different post-processign techniques, such as OOB.
Ultimately, for this project to be successful, I am going to have to branch out from my original theme and expand from "family life" to day to day objects and scenes.
