I have been a huge fan of Foldershare for a few months now, but recently came to the conclusion that Foldershare is simply not ready for prime-time. Maybe if you have 2 Windows computer and 10 files Foldershare will work great, but if you have a diverse group of computers, both OS X and Windows, and over 120GB of data to be synchronized, Foldershare is not your answer.
It looks like most of the issues synchronizing with Mac OS X computers have been resolved, but various other issues still remain.
My Mac Mini, which serves as a data server, constantly looses all Fodlershare library information - causing me to manually re-setup about 15 libraries for synchronization. And since Foldershare is a web only application, setting up each library is much slower than it should be.
My Kitchen Windows PC constantly looses my account credentials and refuses to run Foldershare, once it finally runs again, I am once again faced with the tedious task of re-setting up all of my libraries.
All in all, I have to change my opinion on Foldershare, it is just not ready for prime time. It is definitely NOT a service that I would install on my parents computer - as I had originally intended.
Foldershare is now a Microsoft application, hopefully this will mean a much improved level of testing and stability for the service. On the other hand, it might take Microsoft 5 years to release a new version.
Only time will tell, in the mean time, I am back to having to find an adequate method to synchronize my data across my network.
